Kate Hester’s Life Change Story
It’s amazing how just two months can change you for a life time. What influenced me to apply to work FUGE Camps was when I chaperoned an MFuge camp in Nashville the summer after my sophomore year of college. Obediently, I sent in my application for FUGE Camps and was hired!
Going into my first summer of camp, I was scared, like most other first-year staffers. I expected this opportunity to be a one summer and done kind of deal. This would be the longest I have been away from home, from my friends, from my family. I wasn’t sure what the Lord had in store for that summer, but He surprised me by having not just opportunities and relationships in store for that summer but for a lifetime!
I made friends who enjoyed studying the Bible, serving other believers, and most importantly sharing the love of Christ — just like me. They sharpened me in my beliefs just as iron sharpens iron. Not only did I make friends that lasted during the summer but that still pray for me and advise me in my life struggles and blessings today. You see, it’s not FUGE Camps itself that makes big changes happen in your life. It is the people that Christ uses to express the gospel to you in ways different than what you get when you have to do it alone.
And, God used me and the other staffers to build relationships and share the gospel with students from across the country. FUGE Camps is about community—the body of Christ. It is the truest form of a para-church ministry by making it easier for the Church and Her mission of making disciples.
